Current Beliefs & Fresh Starts

It can be scary to set out on a new path. Up until this point in your life, you’ve built skillsets and developed confidence based on who you are and what you know.

It can feel like you’re putting your whole identity on the line by moving into the unknown, and risking what you’ve become known for based on these perceptions.

What’s important to note here is that perception is ever-changing, yet we so often hold so tightly to the person we are today. Even if that means we risk not becoming the person we are truly capable of becoming were we to let go of that perception, that identity we’ve worked so hard to create.

While perception is ever-changing, so are we. It’s the one constant in this life. So why do we hold on ever so tightly to our current beliefs, and our fragile assumptions about who it is we are? Are we so afraid of change that we will deny it to try and hold on to something that is sure to grow and evolve anyways?

Let’s say this were the case, and we decided to play the game of opposites. The opposite of holding on is letting go. Now let’s play the “what if?” game. What if you were to let go of your perception of who it is you are today, your current identity, just for a moment, and let your dreams run wild? Where would that take you, what kind of a person would you become inside of your imagination?

Now, let’s take that one step further.. After you’ve let your dreams go for a joy ride, ask yourself, “Is the vision I just imagined for my life aligned with the person who I am working on becoming?”

If it’s not, the question could possibly become, “Why not?” It just depends on how far you are willing to take the line of questions. “Why not… What happens when… What will my life be like after…?” Think of all the possibilities..

You see, we’re capable of doing anything. Bob Proctor once said, “We are only limited by weakness of attention and poverty of imagination.” Now that you’ve imagined it, you can work on creating it. You’ve seen it in your head, and you can have it in your hand.

The only thing that’s stopping you is where your attention goes afterwards. If you make the decision and go for the thing you want, your attention, energy, and resources go full steam ahead into attracting everything you need to start making those dreams turn into a reality. Or, you hold on to what you’ve got for dear life, and you’re right back into safety.

Ask yourself, “What is it that I really want?” And then ask yourself, “Am I willing to meet the pay the price, and meet the demands of that big dream?”

You are the one with the keys. And although it may be scary, the truth is, the cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.

What do you really want? Are you satisfied with the life you’re currently living, or is there something else you’ve been holding onto, a secret you’ve been keeping behind closed doors, that you’re just waiting to unlock to become the person deep down you know you’re capable of becoming? The choice is yours.
