There comes a point in every person’s life where they reach a chasm..
Where it seems like there is nowhere to go, and they need to make a decision..
“Do I continue to fall deeper into the comfortability of the life I’m currently living, and continue to feed into the void of doing what brings me little to no passion, or do I decide to make the jump into a brand new way of life? Do I decide to cross the chasm?”
Let’s be very clear - THIS IS A FRIGHTENING MOMENT. You’ve never been to the other side before, and it feels like if you don’t make the jump perfectly, you could fall into the abyss of something even more dangerous than you could have imagined.
The truth is, the greatest danger is often in staying right where you are. We are meant for growth, and sometimes the only way we can truly grow is by doing the thing that seems the most uncomfortable.
I get it.. I stuck around in the comfort of having a job that made me good money for years. Why would I leave? I have enough to travel, live a lifestyle that is “fun” and provides a means to do extracurriculars, I can buy the food I like and hang out at cool restaurants and hit the scene. What could be better?
On paper, this sounds great. The truth is, what this ultimately leads to is an outer flash without an inner flame. A life with a lot of show and not a lot of go. You may drive a nice car and wear fancy clothes, but what’s it worth if you run out of drive and you’re worn out?
Doing work for the money alone often leads to worthless feelings, even if your net worth is high.
When you decide to cross the chasm, you are opening up to new possibilities. You are exploring a new territory, with a feeling of reinvigoration and a sense of wonder about what’s made available to you when you make it to the other side.
While there is never going to be a perfect moment where you feel completely ready, it’s important to trust your gut as a guide for what it is you truly want, and understand that you have everything you need right now to become the person you’re truly capable of being.
Ask yourself these questions - “Is what I’m doing right now what I truly want to be doing? Is there something my heart has been set on that would change my life in a profoundly positive way? Is there another path that would start to light that fire inside me again to bring passion to the work I do on a daily basis?”
The answers to these questions should serve as a GPS for where it is you’re looking to go. It’s up to you if you’re willing to set out on that path, and grow into the person you’ve dreamed of becoming.
You can do anything you set your mind to. The choice is yours. “Do I continue to live a life that is lacking a deeper level of meaning and fulfillment, or do I choose now to cross the chasm, and pursue my true calling to expand my life into abundance and wonderment?”
